What the app does

Through Their Eyes re-renders a photo or a live camera view to approximate how animals and people with different vision might see the same scene. It’s made for curiosity and empathy — it is not a medical or diagnostic tool. You can browse all the ways of seeing, and what each one does, over on the filters pages.

Bringing in photos

Choose a photo to bring into the app and it joins your carousel — the strip of photos you can view through any filter. Your originals stay on your device — the app doesn’t upload them anywhere and doesn’t need access to your whole photo library; you pick the individual photos you want. To remove a photo you’ve imported, delete it within the app; that removes the app’s local copy.

Using the live camera and the compare view

The live camera view applies a filter to what the camera sees in real time. You can switch between the front and rear cameras, and use the compare control to slide between the normal view and the filtered view so you can see the difference directly. Live camera frames are processed on your device for display and aren’t recorded or sent anywhere.

If the camera view is black or unavailable, the app most likely doesn’t have permission to use the camera. The live camera screen shows an Open Settings button that takes you straight to the right place — turn on Camera there and go back to the app.

Sharing an image

Tap Share to send a filtered image somewhere — from a photo you’ve imported, or from the live camera view as it looks at that moment. The app builds the picture at full quality and adds a small caption below it naming the app and the filter, so the image explains itself wherever it ends up.

From there it goes to your device’s usual share sheet, so you can save it to your photo library, send it in a message, or post it anywhere else. Nothing is shared unless you tap Share, and the app doesn’t keep a copy.

“Remove Ads” and restoring your purchase

The app is free and supported by ads. If you’d prefer no ads, you can buy the one-time Remove Ads option; once purchased, ads are gone for good on that Apple account.

  • Already bought it, but ads are back (for example on a new device, or after reinstalling)? Open the Remove Ads screen and tap Restore Purchases. Because it’s tied to your Apple account, restoring brings back your purchase at no extra charge.
  • Bought it but nothing changed? Make sure you’re signed in to the same Apple account you purchased with, then try Restore Purchases. If it still doesn’t take, fully close and reopen the app.
  • Refunds and billing for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Troubleshooting

  • A filter looks wrong or the app is sluggish: fully close the app and reopen it. Restarting your device can help too.
  • The camera won’t work: check camera permission in Settings (above).
  • An imported photo is missing: imported photos live inside the app; if you deleted the app, its imported copies were removed with it. Your originals in your own photo library are unaffected.
  • Still stuck? Email support@cklaboratory.com with your device model and iOS version and a short description, and we’ll help.

Privacy

For how the app and this site handle information, see our privacy policy. In short: your photos and camera stay on your device; the app doesn’t run its own tracking or analytics.
